What is Phyzzy?
Phyzzy is a pixel-based physics playground with little villagers that go POP! Every dot on the screen behaves like a real material. Draw with different elements, water, fire, stone, lava, and watch them interact in realistic ways. Set your own resolution and have fun! 😊
How It Works
Every pixel is a particle with its own properties. Some are solid, others flow like liquids, some rise like smoke. Each type has rules about how it interacts with neighbors, creating complex behaviors from simple rules.
What You Can Do
- Draw with over 20 particle types
- Watch physics in action, water flows, fire spreads, sand piles
- Create chain reactions, light a fuse, trigger TNT, burn wood
- Build structures, dams, walls, houses
- Generate worlds, random terrain with mountains, rivers, caves
- Save your creations!
Key Features
| Particle | Behavior |
|---|---|
| 💧 Water | Flows downhill, can be frozen or boiled |
| 🔥 Fire | Spreads to flammables, creates smoke |
| 🟫 Soil | Basic building block, erodes |
| 🟨 Sand | Flows like granular material |
| 🪨 Stone | Sturdy, melts in lava |
| 🪵 Wood | Flammable, burns slowly |
| 🟤 Oil | Floats on water, highly flammable |
| 🌋 Lava | Extremely hot, melts stone, creates steam |
| 💨 Smoke | Rises from fires and explosions |
| ♨️ Steam | Rises through water and lava |
| 🧊 Ice | Melts near heat |
| 🟢 Acid | Corrodes materials, dissolves in water |
| 🧨 Fuse | Burns like a wick, triggers TNT |
| 💣 TNT | Explodes when ignited |
| 🎆 Firework | Creates colorful sparks |
| ☁️ Cloud | Floats, turns into water |
| 🕳️ Void | Vanishes when burned by a fuse |
| 🧪 Catalyst | Turns water into acid |
| 🧍 Villager | Walks around, avoids fire/lava/acid, can dig, and right‑click to assign jobs! |
| 🔶 Portal IN | Orange portal: sucks in nearby particles and teleports them to the blue portal (can have many orange portals) |
| 🔷 Portal OUT | Blue portal: pushes particles out and receives teleported particles |
Villagers & Jobs
- 🧍 Villager, Place them with the Villager tool. They walk, avoid hazards (fire, lava, acid), and will flee or dig to survive.
- Right‑click a villager to assign a job:
- ⛏️ Digger, digs straight down
- ⚒️ Miner, tunnels sideways in the direction they face
- When a villager dies, they shout and burst into a red mist.
Save / Load
- Save, stores your entire simulation (grid, particles, sprites, camera, settings)
- Load, restores a previously saved simulation.
- Delete, removes the saved data.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+S save, Ctrl+O load.
Portals
- 🔶 Orange (IN), place multiple. They suck particles in and teleport them to the blue portal.
- 🔷 Blue (OUT), only one allowed. Particles emerge here, pushed outward.
- Use the portal buttons in the right sidebar or press P to enter portal placement mode.
Special Features
- Earthquake, Press E to trigger massive terrain shifts (chasms, lava pools, debris).
- Terrain Generation, Click 🎲 for random worlds with biomes, caves, rivers, and more.
- Meteor Shower, Click ☄️ to rain fiery meteors that explode on impact.
- Emitter Tool, continuous particle spawner (choose material).
⌨Keyboard Shortcuts
- Space Pause/Resume
- G Toggle Gravity
- R Generate Terrain
- E Earthquake
- C Clear Canvas
- P Toggle Portal Placement Mode
- Delete or D Clear All Portals
- + - Zoom In/Out
- 0 Reset Zoom
- Ctrl+S Save Simulation
- Ctrl+O Load Simulation
